Children's Blood Tests
Care for your child
Blood tests for children can be very challenging, dependent on their age, illness, compliance, and parents' influence particularly if they are nervous themselves.
Phlebotomy Services offers a specialist service looking after children, and founder Jayne is one of the few experienced phlebotomists within the Warwickshire area to offer private visits at home to take blood samples.
Our service comes with recommendations from local schools, hospital departments, GP surgeries, Doctors & Consultants.
What to expect
A calm and trusted approach
Needing to take a blood sample can be a stressful and upsetting time for the child & parents. Over the years we have developed our own technique in ensuring the whole procedure is as painless and non traumatic as possible for everyone involved. If possible, one of our experienced team may visit the child and family prior to any tests, to get to know them and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
Spending time with the child and parents, gaining their trust and hopefully allaying any fears from the offset is important. We offer services from 4 years of age and above as we feel younger patients often need additional assistance and distractions, although we are always happy to visit, advise and discuss younger ages if required.
We also have significant experience in taking blood from children with special needs and anxiety issues, both at home and in a supported school environment.
My 6 year old needed a blood test and we were all very anxious & didn't want to wait 3 weeks for an appointment at the hospital. Jayne was brilliant. She offered to do a pre-visit prior to the blood test to meet us and have a look at my sons arms. Jayne was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. She was prompt to return my call, flexible regarding times (around school and work) and dates and was so professional, but above all so friendly too.
Would definitely recommend.
Advice and extra help
